bring a severely withdrawn schizophrenic teen out of his shell, smiling and chuckling as they go round and round the arena. At Day Camp, she taught many new riders to trust. With the girls in recovery, she challenges them to be honest and to communicate clearly, and to not give up easily.
SUNDANCE, Sucia's daughter, is a very friendly Quarter Horse and she challenges one to be aware of their need for personal boundaries. She is patient with riders and quite trusting.
Dear old BABES still plays a role at 31 and is great for the fearful souls who are intimidated by larger horses. She doesn't like to be left out of the events when the cars unload.
THUNDER is a pretty palomino gelding Mustang/QH with a 4-H and trail riding background who is a mellow fellow that anyone can ride successfully their first try.
PATRIOT is a jet black Tennessee Walking Horse recovering from years of show life. He is loving and forgiving and the smoothest ride in town.
MOCHA is a cute bay Arab gelding who teaches that trusting relationships are not developed overnight.
TOBIAS (Toby) is a paint Miniature Horse who is quite social and full of himself but very well-mannered. He knows he is cute! The older ladies at the nursing home adore him!
RUSTY and MOONSHADOW play their role in teaching groundwork as they are more challenging rides.
THE REST OF THE GANG:
TOBAGO is our chocolate brown llama with enchanting eyes and soft muzzle. He loves to lead kids down the lane as he samples blackberry, apple and maple leaves.
LILY, the Nubian goat, is nicknamed "Silly Lily." she climbs inside the hay feeder, her ears fly when she gallops, and she is in everyone's business.
The two small Pygmy goats are a big hit! ZEUS is the youngest, he is black and white. When he was small he was a lap goat for our nursing home visits. His friend is BOO, she is light brown, and has taught Zeus to rise up and butt the air.
SIMBA is our loving 10-year-old Golden Retriever. He's learned all about farm life and how to stay out from under the horses' feet and not mess with the rabbits. When he first came here 2 years ago, he would steel Rusty's oats until Rusty picked him up and tossed him aside, all 120 pounds! He loves trail rides and will jump in any vehicle to go anywhere.
SCOUT is our 2-year-old Golden Retriever who is very excited to greet any visitor and loves her nursing home visits...and to have her belly scratched.
MOONBEAM and CLAIR and are our wonderful bunnies that bring cuddles to both kids and elders.
THE HORSES:
CHACO is a strong, 22-year-old bay gelding. His large, Quarter Horse frame intimidates only for a moment, until one gazes into those big, gentle eyes and you stroke his soft muzzle. He has been the champion mentor of teens from a psychiatric facility as well as eight-year-old giggling girls from Day Camp.
SUCIA is the mother and also the alpha mare. She is always on the lookout for danger and feeling the responsibility to keep the others safe. We have seen her
