Rainy Day Fun at the 12th Annual Bluegrass Ice Cream Social!
Thanks to all who joined us for the 12th Annual Bluegrass Ice Cream Social on September 9th! Windy Acres welcomed nearly 200 guests and volunteers for an afternoon of games, music, animals, and ice cream.
Despite the rain, visitors young and old enjoyed farm tours, observed exciting horse demonstrations, sampled cones from Mallard Ice Cream, and met our many animals. The hay alley offered guests an escape from the drizzle and a chance to mingle with the horses, while the red barn hosted rousing games of Bingo and Boot Bounce.
The face painting station was a particular hit among the younger crowd, as was Woody, our saddled mounting block that provided a popular photo op. All were entertained by the foot-stomping tunes of Pretty Little Feet, whose music lent a down-home touch to a day on the farm. We’re already looking forward to next year! Hope to see you there.
If you took photos at the event, please share them with us on social media using the hashtag #animalsasnaturaltherapy!
THANK YOU to Joe Teehan of KGMI & Cascade Radio Group (our MC), for being the voice of the event; Pretty Little Feet for the fabulous music; Bank of the Pacific for providing extra parking; and to Mallard Ice Cream for their generous donation of ice cream and sorbet for our guests. We are especially grateful to our wonderful volunteers who made the event possible, and to our animals for sharing their gifts with us!
