2019 Blessing of the Animals

Thanks to all those who joined us in May for the Blessing of the Animals. This is an intimate event for our donors and participant families to honor the amazing animals who walk beside so many throughout the year. ANT youth and veterans speak about their horse or other favorite critters, and thank them for their lessons & love. One veteran revealed that Abby saved her life. Another youth shared that Sir has made him a better leader and friend. We also celebrated the life of Freesia, a beloved member of our herd who sadly passed away just a few days before.

Bernie Thomas of the Lummi Nation gave a beautiful blessing over our farm, staff, and animals, honoring us with a prayer in his native language. Duncan Saunders played harp and enveloped all with his peaceful music. Women with Wings lent their voices to the event, leading all in a final singing of “Amazing Grace”.

We are grateful for this opportunity to include our donors in the transformative work that happens here every day thanks to their investment. It is a powerful and humbling experience to listen as people share their truth beside the horses who made their healing possible. Please take a look at this day and the beautiful memories captured by our friend & local photographer, Jessie Bloss, below.
